My FireWire advocacy is based on actual data transfer rates using USB1 (slow, 
but expected to be) USB2 (somewhat faster, but supposed to be really fast), 
and FireWire (supposed to be just a bit faster than USB2; actually several 
times as fast). Reported in a major publication just recently, covering multiple 
format external drives. Don't recall which publication, search it yourself if 
interested. I would say the faith in USB2 is an old WindowsHabit, thank you. 
Moot point since most printers don't have FireWire, since the hype about USB2 
has succeeded in large part.
