I'd like to try and offer an explanation for this. I've been a member
for over 5 years now and one of the things I've seen expressed over
and over is how much people like this forum because it stays on focus
and they don't have to wade through tons of other stuff to find what
they need. There are countless forums on the web that debate the
merits of various cameras or share and critique photos, but people
don't come here for that.

This forum's purpose is to help with printing problems and keep up
with the latest developments in printers, inks, papers and how they
are used. When you get replies like the above, it isn't because
members are being unfriendly, but because there is a shared desire to
keep the forum on topic and not let it devolve into something that's
just like so many others.

Past experience has been instructive. On several ocasions people got
into OT threads, such as Canon vs Nikon for example, and they grew
into long noisy debates that sometime went on for many days and
dominated the forum and drove away people who came here looking for
help. It was not uncommon for those debates to attract troll types
that had no interest in BW printing, but just love to argue in forums.

So there is a sort of a collective defensive reflex to prevent those
sorts of things from happening here. This forum is simply not a place
to share photos and get feedback on them. It is well loved by it's
members precisely because it stays focused on BW digital printing and
closely related issues such as scanning negatives .

I hope this helps to understand the replies you received.

Regards,
Clayton
