Re: Epson Enhanced Matte

Yep,it has yellowed in less than a week in my workroom in FL when
laying around on a work table. That's with no direct light. It would
be no big deal, if accounted for in printing, except that it is NOT
necessarily evenly distributed. Leave 2 sheets partly stacked and you
can see the division after a few days.
Print it,dry it, and frame it right away and it can look fine for
quite a while. Still, I see people buying old turn of the century
prints all the time at auctions and they are not just yellow but
actually brown in color, so who's to say just how long before the acid
does it's thing beyond acceptance. In any case, I still wouldn't put
things on it for distribution. Nor will I buy more of it since better
alternatives are available.
That still begs the question of why anyone is using Any paper with
OBAs since precisely the same yellowing will eventually occur when
they burn off. There is no certain timetable on that either so it
could come back to haunt you 5,10 or 15 years down the road even on
very expensive cotton acid free papers.
My comments on using it simply reflected that I don't care if it
doesn't last long in that application. When it becomes objectionable,
or quite possibly long before that point, I'll just replace it either
with something different entirely or, if I just can't live without
that very image, will reprint it on whatever paper I'm using at the time.
As it happens, my situation permits that. Yours would not.

Regards
Duane
