I'm putting together a portfolio too and it's A3. I personally think 4x6 is too small to show off your printing. I would say use whatever paper best presents your images. It's your work, so you should use your own preferences. Make sure it's at least acid/lignin free though because in ten years you will probably like to look back on it and see how you've progressed - and you don't want it to look awful in a few years as the acids attack the paper. Also, it's far better to have a few superb images than many images, with some average ones among them - as they will lower the overall impression. Be ruthless in your editing.
