Christopher If you have problems merging images try Optipix. It is a set of tools for image processing and amongst many others includes a useful one which helps with merging images. There is a free trial but I suspect once you have tried it you will want to keep it. I cannot remember the website but you will find it with a Google search. Johnston Sent: 26 May 2007 17:44 To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Digital BW] More on the moon, Thanks for all the suggestions, fortunately I am going to be there far enough in advance to have a chance to try some things out. I will make the lens selection once I get the lay of the land, I will have it all with me up to the 500f4 with converters if I need to bring the moon in close. I have tried to use the 32bit HDD image merge with PSCS2 and it never seems to work, I always get a default message that there is not enough contrast to merge. I'm shooting a D2x and a D2Xs, I always shoot raw so it seems that the best solution may be to spot meter the moon and then bracket the hell out of it. Thanks for all the tips, I'll post something somewhere if I get a decent shot. Frankly the scale is a bit daunting, these things are massive. Christopher L. Johnston Johnston-Namibia c.c.
