Bottom line? Yes it does. I think it's less of a "tinkers mentality" and more the pursuit of perfection in printing a given negative or file. At least for me anyway. To be able to match my print to the mental image I have of it, is extremely rewarding. If you're getting what you like with ABW then by all means continue. You're achieving your goals for the image and that's what matters.
