...some clarity regarding La Sal, the former Kayenta: http://www.moabpaper.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=51 report from feet on the ground, La Sal and Moab: We tented 9000' in the La Sal mountains in UT this past weekend (Manti La Sal BLM park). Aspen/alpine environment with distant red rock views. Handy to Montecello UT, about 5.5hrs from Albuquerque, easy drive all the way. 80deg day, 50deg night. Beautiful. Heavy rains came and went sp after two nights we decided to go up an hour to Moab, patronize McStiff's ( a brewpub), and head another half hour to Fishers Tower, just NE... 4 hr hike loop along 1000' amazing Martian landscape cliffs...sky opened about an hour after we got back to the vehicle. Stayed in Cortez CO that night, drove home by noon Monday. The Four Corners Area is the Axis of Paradise.
