Have you tried using the Epson driver to see if the machine bands with that
driver?  The 3000 does benefit from the Piezo driver, especially if you are
doing small prints with it.  However, a partitioned workflow with the Epson
driver and quads, I find, allows the 3000 to do a very good job with large
prints.
