Digital BW, The Print

I recently purchased a refurbished C88+ from Epson to replace my
CX7800 for printing b&w photos.

The first tests, using the MIS carts, show hairline lines when printed
on Crane Museo (another problem which you might want to address).  I
tried to clean the nozzles and was given a message that this was only
possible with Epson carts and to replace the carts.  Is there any way
to override this, as I will need to clean the nozzles periodically and
wish to continue with b&w printing.
