Digital BW, The Print

MIS PK is very archival.  It’s also quite warm.  The relatively neutral tone of Eboni is one of it’s major attractions and what sets it apart from Epson’s UC MK.

 

For a neutral PK print, take a look at the UT-RC inkset.  The PKN is quite nice.  It has some cyan and R800 Blue in it, but I held it down as much as I could and still have what I considered a good black black only print.  One cart in an R1800 will band.  Three of the PKNs would probably be fine.  There are also dilute RC inks for the R260 etc. that would make a good inkset for the 1800, but I have not gone there. Prompted by Paul Roark’s 3MK inkset for the Epson r1800, I have just
ordered this printer, which I hope to get at the end of the coming
week. I am also taken, apart from the print curl, with Harman’s fiber
gloss paper, but this needs the PK inks.

How much less archival, if that is the correct word, are MIS’s PK inks
than the Eboni?

Can I swap carts to move from MK to PK and back again? Would I need
cleaning carts and, if so, in both directions or only one? I would
also like to print colour on satin/glossy papers. Would this be
possible? I hope I won’t be black-listed for this last statement!

Has anyone gone down these roads yet and can provide a basis for doing
3PK and the curves for Harman or Innova etc?
