Yes, reading all those car analogies made me think of those who complain 
bitterly that they can't use all the ink in their cartridges. So a few more 
car analogies:

I can't use all the oil in my engine; although it holds a gallon or so, I 
can only use a pint or so before I have to top it up again, or chance 
damaging my engine.

I can't use all the petrol/gas in my tank; the car manufacturers have 
designed the pickup so that it prevents the last 1/2 gallon or so being 
used! Just to stop grot being sucked up into the engine.
