I have previously done all my "serious" black and white printing using Epson's ABW function on my R2400 or Roy Harrington's QTR program with John Cone's Piezography K-7 inks on my R2400 or R2200. I am interested in doing some color printing using canned profiles on Museo Silver Rag, Epson's new Exhibtion Fibre paper, and Hahnemeuhle's new Baryta paper. I know how to print using the profiles by selecting "no color managment" in the print set-up and then selecting the appropriate profile. The results are often a bit dark and less saturated than what I see on my monitor. I am wondering if I should use "Edit-Assign Profile" in PS CS2 and then print using no "color managment". I am confused as to whether to assign the profile from the start and adjust the image so it looks good, or whether just to proceed with no color management and then select the profile during the printing phase. I am loathe to adjust the image for a particular paper in case I wish to print on several papers. My workflow is not making sense to me at this point. Any help is most appreciated. Paul G.
