I recently went through the same process with my 2400; same instructions as
the 1800 (you should have received these in the box.)

But to reiterate:

1. Perform a nozzle check with the Epson carts.  VERY IMPORTANT: Do not
proceed until you get a perfect nozzle check.  Do it twice to be certain.
2. Press the ink change button to access the carts; then flip open the lid
over the Epson carts and remove them.
3. Insert the Cone carts in their proper positions after gently shaking each
one and removing the vent tab; they are labeled unambiguously.  Make certain
that the vent hole is cleanly open, otherwise the ink won¹t flow properly.
4. Press each cart firmly in place; the cart tab has to latch into position.
Double check that each tab is latched into the locked position.
5. Close the lid over the carts.  The lid should click into place and stay
there.  If it doesn¹t, one (or more) of the carts is not properly latched.
6. Press the ink change button, run a couple of cleaning cycles, and you¹re
ready to print.  Except for one additional step.

The OEM ink residue on the landing pad will, to some extent, contaminate the
inks that are put down on the print.  You¹ll want to clean the landing pad
before any serious printing.  Although this is easily done, it must be done
very carefully.  I read how to do this somewhere on the piezo site, but I¹m
unable to ferret it out.  It involves using Windex (or equivalent) soaked
paper towels and very gently pressing the spring-loaded pad to soak up the
original inks.  You have to avoid unseating the pad from its mooring.

To check if there is any remaining color ink, get Keith Cooper¹s test image
at

and print the test patterns.  I found that the circular patterns are very
sensitive to the presence of residual color inks.

I¹m assuming that you¹ve downloaded and installed QTR  and the paper
profiles (a separate step.)
