I'm going to upgrade my (Mac-based) digital processing, and I need some advice. I now scan with a Nikon 4000ED into a G4 Powerbook and view with a Samsung 19" monitor and print with QTR/Cone inks on an Epson R2400. I plan to buy an iMac with 20" LCD and 4 GB RAM (max available.) The Samsung gives me a fairly accurate view of what I'll see in the final print in terms of tonal range, but I think I can do better in terms of sharpness and color temperature control. Certainly, the LCD of the PB is totally inadequate in relation to the final print. I assume that the LCD on the iMac will also be incapable of being reliably calibrated. So, first question: is this assumption correct? And if so, second question: what CRT would you recommend as adequate? TIA. Harry
