Digital BW, The Print

Hello All,

I'm new to printing, and I recently bought an X-rite Photo LT package.
 I profiled my monitor and printer, but I was wondering if it's
necessary to profile my printer for Black and White.  PHOTO LT only
uses a color chart to create a profile for my printer.  Is there any
additional steps I should take for B/W?  Perhaps purchase a RIP?
