Digital BW, The Print

I have a hardware issue that recently cropped up on the printer that I'm using with the B&W CFS I got from MIS that perhaps someone here has encountered. When booted, the printer head goes slowly back and forth across the full width of the platten three times, then stops parked all the way to the left with a solid red light on the panel. Has anyone encountered this / know what this is a symptom of?
