Jim, the point is that there is still more than 1/2 the amount of absorbent material that is 
white, so a lot more waste ink could fit in. It is also very easy to replace the absorbing 
material with e.g. folded paper towels (some use female sanitary napkins). I have done this 
several times on the Epson 4000 where the ink waste is much higher than on the 3800.
