Digital BW, The Print

Yes.  Soak the pad then let the head move back to the rest position.  
I have also been told you must turn the printer off so the head seats 
itself firmly on the pad, so turn the machine off, too.  Let it soak 
and see what happens.  Sounds like you have nothing to loose.
