Re: Center for Fine art photography

I also submitted one and had it accepted, but will think very
carefully about submitting for additional exhibits. The first
submission will course be more expensive because of the initial
membership fee, and there may or may not be other shows consistent
with your work. Of greater concern to me is the cost of shipping a
framed image, or their charges for framing, which weren't
unreasonable, but more than it costs me to do it myself, and I would
still need to ship the unframed image. At their recommended minimum
price I would just about break even if I sold an image after shipping
and other costs. Include shipping costs both ways to help determine
if it is worth it to you. Of course it may be worth it just for the
exposure, regardless of whether there is a profit on any individual
image.

They did solicit names of local art reporters and sent them an email
press release on the opening.

I took my chances the first time because the juror was Tony Sweet, a
local photographer with a national reputation, about whom I heard
good things. If you know, or know of the jurors, that might also
help you decide to participate.
