Folks, I spent the evening printing images on my 1280 with the MIS VM inks and Pauls 1280 curves for the PC. I really have to say that the Epson driver really does do a great job. The curves Paul wrote need a bit of tweeking, but the overall print quality is excellent. I sat with 20 prints from a previous 7000 exchange. These images are superb and most were done by professional photographers using the Piezo RIP. Guess what, the 1280 prints are for the most part just as sharp, have tonal transitions that are just as smooth and rival the 7000 prints. Using the NC curve, it was very difficult to tell the 1280 print from the original silver print. I do not see any posterization or solarization in the midtones or shadows. With a 6x loupe I can tell you that the 7000 was a tad sharper but that is a very subjective call on my part and may be due to the Piezo dither. I really must say that I would recommend the 1280 to anyone just getting into quadtone printing and can live with the 13x19 max size. Mike
