Re: [Digital BW] HELP printing Black & White on epson 1280 printer

The only problem you may have is getting the empty spongeless cartridges and a chip re-setter..If you plan to dedicate one of your machines to B&W, I would get in touch with MIS ASAP..I believe that Rulings by the court system have banned the importation of such things..once they're gone..I actually would buy SEVERAL sets..They're pretty inexpensive..personally I would stay away from ANY CIS (continuous ink supply)..Been there..done that..4 or 5 times..They ALL work fine in the beginning, but you will wear out your printer with EXTRA cleaning cycles and clogs..I would also invest a $50 shareware fee for Harrington's QTR (quad-tone rip)..It will make things very easy if you utilize the UT-2 inkset....Also look up anything written by Paul Roark on this group..He's the most well-known innovator for fine-art 3rd party inks, and does much of his experimenting with MIS ink-sets....BTW, my other 1280 is set up to use LYSON Fotonic color dye-based inks..In use with the MIS spongeless carts as well..Great color..Low cost, and More longevity than the Epson OEM Dyes (but no where near the longevity of their color pigment inks!)

Hello, Eddie. thanks for your info. i have two epson
1280 printers and plan to dedicate one of them solely
  to B&W.

i was hoping to learn how to produce b/w photos using
oem epson ink to reduce the learning curve when i make
  the switch to UT-2 ink.

i just may make the switch sooner than later.
