Me too.

If you simply split channels (click on arrow in the upper right corner 
of the Channels palette for the menu), you see all the information that 
is in the image file.  I simply combine the imformation from the three 
channels -- which are displayed as gs images -- as needed.  This also 
allows different channels or filtration for different parts of the 
image.
