Although this is probably not what you had I mind, an alternative worth 
considering is using the Photoshop curves that are linked to my general 
2200 UT7 write-up at

and embedding them in ICCs made with QTR's Create ICC-RGB. See

for information on making these ICCs.

While a spectro is ideal for this, one can use a flatbed scanner.  See

With these ICCs the workflow is "color managed" with respect to 
relative densities (that is, the monitor should match the print), the 
system can be linearized to account for variable, and new papers can be 
profiled fairly easily.  (There is usually a profile that gives tones 
that are close, so all that is needed is re-linearization.)
