The old dyes were a problem for Eboni in the 1280. > Larger prints (8x10) do exhibit slight > banding towards the initial part of the print. Banding in the first and last 1" is common with lots of printers. The printers with the "vertical" head (1400, 220, C88+) and those with 1.5 pl drops are particularly affected. They really need both the main and exit rollers to be engaged for best smoothness. This type of banding is a paper transport problem that will probably be worse with thick papers and probably cannot be fixed. If the banding is taking place when both of these rollers are engaged -- in the central part of an 8x10 -- and assuming perfect nozzles and good alignemnt, then I'd be more worried that the printer was not one of the better samples. I only have a sample of one, and that one can print a very good black only in a 7 x 9 inch print on letter size paper. Paul www.PaulRoark.com
