I am using some of the MIS K3 equivalent inks...and I was testing the printing characteristics of the back of the Ilford Gold Fibre. I want to print text on the back. I found that after overnight drying, back printing with text seems ok and does not smudge when a finger is rubbed across. As expected, when I took a damp Qtip, the text did smudge...since the back is a resin coat. Out of curiousity, I tested the front photograph with my damp Qtip....and to my surprise found that the ink on the face also easily smudged when touched with a wet Qtip. I then proceeded to test the one other Air Dried type paper I have on hand (Innova F type) No such issue on the Innova. Image is quite fixed and a damp Qtip does not smudge the image on the face. My assumption is that the ink does not sink in on the Ilford Gold. I presume that in a matt and under glass this is not an issue, but it strikes me that if the inks are this close to the surface that durability is a real concern on this paper. Is this a known issue? Are there other alternate F type papers that are less prone to wet bleeding. I suppose that it is not typical to wet test ink jet prints, but I noticed that HP is selling their media as highly resistant to wet tests. I read one review on the Z3100 and the reviewer even put a print under the faucet to test with no problem. I kind of like the Ilford Gold Fibre, and it is certainly more affordable when compared to similar type media. I understand the Harman is also very fragile. Other than glazing or spraying, what are others impressions when dealing with this kind of fragility on Ilford Gold? My curiosity has me wondering what others are doing with these papers to protect them from potential damage. Phil
