Digital BW, The Print

hi im all new to this photo printing im a newbe..i have a epson r220
,,and i just can not get a rigth good b&w print ... if u no what i
mean ..looks all wash out .. i dont no if its me lol ..on the Monitor
it looks ok ..like i said im all new to this ..on the print there is a
bit of red in the print..in the shadows same as in r.g.b to i just
dont no what im not doing rigth ....pls can some one help ...... thank
