theoretically there should not be a difference, although I often find there is with this kind of topic. It's not Photoshop that is supposed to compensate, it's each profile. It's worth looking closely though, one setting with it's appropriate profile may to do more heavy lifting to correct than the other. Carefully check dark near black shadows to make sure everything is separating as it should.
