Re: vertical "banding" with R1800, 3MK (Eboni ink), Moab Kayenta

2008-11-21 by Paul Whiting

Thanks, Clayton, I'll try that, and get back to you.

But first I must tell you something. There's a small group of us that
meets for coffee every Friday am to swap notes, bring up problems,
etc. Most people mentioned dirty rollers, that sort of thing. But one
guy very quietly studied the photo - it's a ticket booth to an old art
deco theater, with a deep shadow area at the top - that's where I'm
getting this "banding". He asked what the material was below the
shadow. I thought it was a strange question but I told him it was the
plexiglass around the booth. Then he said I'll bet the area you're
talking about is picking up a faint reflection from the plastic. And
when I looked at it, I do think he's right! If I look carefully at the
photo in Photoshop I think I can make that out, very faintly. Somehow
the effect is increased a bit in the print.

Can you believe this?! I could e-mail it to you, or try posting it here.

I must tell you I have a genius for find complicated answers for
simple questions!

I must also tell you thanks for getting me started with BO printing. A
few years ago I got one of the last R220's at our Office Max, loaded
some Eboni ink in the black position and got beautiful prints right
off the bat. I had purchased a couple of sample prints from you first.

Regards,

Paul
