Lara,
I've just gone thru the same thing. The key is to somehow either dissolve or partially dissolve the dried ink. I tried the system cleaning cartridge & got some of the nozzles Ok, but not all. I pulled the cartridge & dropped some Windex (via an eye dropper) on the thingy that punctures the cartridge & let it sit for a couple of hours -- meanwhile taping up the exit hole and the vent holes of the system cleaning cartridge with scotch tape. I then put back a black ink cartridge & went thru a cleaning cycle & nozzle check, etc.
After a couple of times with the Windex, I got a clean nozzle check. There's another problem with this. I ran out of ink in the color cartridge, but fortunately I had another & finally got it working.
There are two further steps (that I didn't have to take). First, heat up some Windex (alcohol would probably work also) Not so hot that it melts plastic! & dribble it on the same place. Next is to put a tube around the thingy & force Windex through it with a syringe. I've never done this & could see how it might damage the little nozzles.
I still think that the game is to get the dry ink dissolved & then let the cleaning cycles suck it out.
Hope this helps.
Carl

Subject: [Digital BW] plugged 1200
I am new to this group so first let me just say "hi".
I have two printers, a 1270 that I use for colour work and a 1200
that I am dedicating to black and white printing. A few months after
I bought the 1200 it was stolen, along with a ton of other computer
stuff. Several months went by before the gear was recovered. Several
more months went by before it was returned to me.
The printer had been used but when I got it back the black cartridge
was missing. It has taken awhile finding drivers and such but finally
it is up and working...sort of.
The black head seems to be really plugged up. I used a cleaning
cartridge in it prior to installing MIS variable inks in it but after
several cleaning sessions two sections of the test pattern are still
incomplete.
Any suggestions or does this need to go into the shop for a
professional cleaning job?
Also, the choices of paper that are available on the 1270 are not
listed on the 1200. Not sure if this is a driver problem or not.
thanks in advance for any help.
