Just an FYI, if you haven't done so already I would suggest that you 
scan a calibrated Stoufer's 21 step, step tablet to determine what the 
true dynamic range of your scanner is. I think you will find it is 
quite limited in it's capacity to read DMAX. It may work okay for 
reading reflection densities but and can't really substitute for a 
densitometer for reading film.
