Finally got a chance to print the same image on the two papers. I chose a file with sizable areas of black, yet with some shadow detail. The first print was on Lasal, but for some reason I had a lot trouble getting the Kayenta to load in my R1800. Both were on 5 x7 stock. The Kayenta would either shoot through blank, or simply "hiccup" and refuse to load. I tried curving the paper slightly, giving it a nudge, but then, oddly, when I had the curve going the "wrong" way, ie concave side down, it took. Well, that's not the subject at hand. The two were very, very close in Dmax. I actually found myself leaning toward the Lasal, the DMax was just a touch deeper, and it bit whiter as well. I think both papers use OBAs. As I said before, the Lasal is smoother. The Lasal is slightly smoother, comes in at 235 weight (what is that, gm/m2?) and the Kayenta is 205. Maybe the difference in surface and weight could account for my loading problems with the Kayenta, or maybe my printer chose that particular moment to signal I need a roller cleaning. That's the best I can tell you, I'm very new at digital printing and just learning to know what to look for. Hope that tells you something useful! I'm eager to try that Premier Art paper, that's the one Paul Roark speaks highly of, isn't it?
