Digital BW, The Print

I'm working on a proposal for a public art project, that might 
include a number of photographs printed 3' x 8' (or maybe 3' x 6') 
mounted on a substrate, and mounted on posts in the ground like a 
sign.  The substrate might be wood or metal.  Not sure whether the 
prints would be color or black and white.

Have any of you done any such project?  Any suggestions on materials, 
vendors, possible cost estimates.

My concept is to surround a new school building with images of that 
building in various stages of construction (or pre-construction).
