Digital BW, The Print

Some time ago I purchased a sealed-in-the-box Epson C86 printer with 
an intention to dedicate it for B&W printing. Just hot a set of MIS 
EZ B&W cartridges [two black [for glossy and matte paper)+ C + M + Y].
Opened the box, set up the printer, installed the driver from Epson 
CD, opened a monochrome file in CS3 ... Ooops! The printer complains 
that it can't recognise cartridges and suggests to buy Epson ink. 

MIS help desk is already closed. I need to have this print (a 
birthday gift!) tomorrow.

Any workaround, folks? Thanks in advance!
