Digital BW, The Print

Two questions:

1) Do I need to have color inks in the non-black slots?  In other words, I plan to keep cleaning cartridges in all the slots but MK, PK, and GLOP.  Will this work?

2) What's the best way to prevent clogs? Someone mentioned amonia, but where do I put it?
