Re: Creative Applications

John:
These lists got their start about 12 or 13 years or so ago, when Epson came out with the landmark EP3000 printer and a guy by the name of Mitch Leben started a list serve on the printer.

Then about 11 years ago, when Epson introduced the EP9000 with fugitive dye inks, we were all desperately looking for a more archival solution and the 9000 list was born with the help of Diana from Hawk Mountain Papers.

That group held a couple of get-togethers at the PhotoExpo in NY City. It was very interesting and entertaining meeting these folk and sharing prints. During these times there also were a number of traveling group portfolios. And I'm sure Paul O'Roark remembers some of the personalities from those days. . . who could forget Jerry Olson from North Dakota? http://www.westernechoes.com/

But it seems that as our large format printers have improved and the "art" of making quality inkjet prints has become more main stream, and such interactive get togethers no longer seem that compelling.

I like your enthusiasm for the idea though. Propose something! Maybe it will happen?

We all have so much more in common historically, and so much more to think about than arguing about the limited parameters of our particular niche interests of the technology and the commerce in and of itself.

Maybe a linked gallery on Flickr or something.

We simply laid out the work on a table and described how we did it. It was so supportive and positive. So simple and clean. Everyone leaned something and contributed something.
