But, the Claria inkset can produce reasonably good B&W. QTR is needed for this, however. That way mostly the black ink is used. In a strict (and easy) "black only" mode with QTR you'll find the tone of the black is greenish. I've made profiles that blend in some LM and LC to take care of that problem for the 260/280. My guess is they'll be close -- probalbly just need re-linearization -- on the 1400. I can send them to you if you're interested.
