If you get the prefilled carts you can refill them once they are out of ink. I'd get a few extras for when they go bad. I do recommend separate syringes for each color and I don't bother wash them after use. I also return any extra ink to the bottle, air pump any ink left in the syringe into a trashcan, wipe them off with a paper towel and put the syringes back in a box. The less water pollution the better.
