Re: [Digital BW] 4880 black in swap hack for 4800

2009-07-27 by danielstaver

I just tried it. Unfortunately three cartridges were empty and had to be replaced during the procedure, and after switching on the last time after switching carts, it went into ink charging mode. So I probably wasted more ink than during a normal swap, since I didn't use the conversion kit.

Oh well.. I'll try it again when I want to swap back to Photo Black and make sure none of the cartridges are nearly empty, and use the stage 4 reset from the 7880 page like they warn you might have to do http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/printer/7880-9880_swap_black_ink.html

I got the printer with over a full set of extra carts, so at least I have plenty of ink to spare for now.

The whole procedure in total took 15 minutes. 4 minutes for changing black carts and making the menu settings, the rest for suddenly having to change color carts and then doing the ink charging.
