Digital BW, The Print

hi need some help  i have a epson 1400. i use epson inks standed inks that is .
i have been trying to do B/W prints.but each time i do a print the print comes out with a tint of red and not a true b/w.and all so looks milky on the blks , i have the 1400 set at there gray settihgs when i print the pics .
i am not a pro photogarpy all anything like that i just like to print my happy sanps if you no wot i mean . so if anyone out there can help with this, help much needed thankyou .
