Converting to B&W in Lightroom

2009-09-29 by voranado

I have always converted to B&W in PS after processing the raw file using either the BW tool in PS itself or Silver Efex. However, I have been experimenting with converting in Lightroom 2.0 and doing so while you still have access to all of the raw converter controls (white balance, exposure, etc.) seems to have some advantages. I can still mimic filters using the LR panel and thus have a reasonable degree of control over the process before exporting to PS and converting to a grayscale file. Are there any obvious downsides I am not aware of?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
