I loaded the 7800 with the "C6-Dual" (using 2 positions for three of the midtones -- see below). With the Epson driver set to Color Controls and gamma 1.8 -- the default settings -- the output on Premier Art Smooth BW is very close to the Gray Gamma 2.2 ideal, without the need for any other profile. I might add that mixing and loading this setup is way easier than the old 7500 -- fewer inks to mix and the modern interface/valve (no tiny needle to force the inks through). Mixing the base was the hardest part. I think I'll figure out a way to easily mix the base by the gallon. So far, so good.
