David & others Thank you very much for you response. I didn't want to ask questions in the wrong group. In the near future I will be asking many questions since I'm trying to get back to photography, and my interests are related to B&W digital photography. I have read several sites regarding the calibration of the computer monitors and I'm trying to fully understand the steps required to calibrate my monitor. Let me start be listing my equipment involved in the calibration of my monitor: I have a PC with a new Gigabyte motherboard, which includes the video card on-board. The software is ATI Radeon 4300. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 204T and I have installed it software Natural Color. I also have the ColorVision Spyder 2 Express. I have read that it is best to not use the software of the video card and instead use the monitor adjustments. Shall I use the Natural Color software or the use the keys (brightness, contrasts, etc.) on the monitor to adjust the colors? Or will the Spyder 2 Express do everything for me? I'm somewhat confused with the process and I need some advice. Hope you all have a wonderful new years and let 2010 brings us some wonderful B&W photos. jorge Regards from Sacramento, Jorge jorgegaj@... or pegasus@surewest.net ________________________________ From: C D Tobie <CDTobie@aol.com> To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tue, December 22, 2009 9:36:27 AM Subject: Re: [Digital BW] Calibrating my monitor On Dec 21, 2009, at 10:27 AM, JorgeG wrote: > I have some issues and questions regarding the calibration of my > monitor. Monitor calibration is at least as important for B&W work as for color, plus a few specialized B&W issues, so its certainly appropriate here. If it has to do with Spyder products, then the Datacolor Users List at Yahoo Lists would be the most obvious list to ask on, but you'll get responses from me on either one... > > You help is greatly appreciated?
