Hey Guys,

I haven't posted in a while because I've been working on my secret project
for over a year. A couple of you already know about it (and provided
input/feedback), but as far as I can tell, this is a pretty new idea in
photography, so wanted to share it with one of the groups I've been involved with for
many years. (In fact, I just looked and my first post here was Oct, 2002.
Where did those 8+ years go?!) Here it is in "public beta" form:

http://www.phoozl.com

Basically, it's a destination or platform for interactive photo-based
activities. There's a lot of gaming involved but there's also learning and
education.... For example, I have a "Photo IQ" game that's more like a quiz and
covers a lot of ground including Monochrome. So in honor of you guys, I'll add
a question or two about monochrome (or multi-monochrome) printing ;-) The
way the game is set up, I can keep adding questions (and answers)
indefinitely; it just makes the game more fresh and interesting.

It's still early days for Phoozl, so let me know what you think of it or if
you have any comments/questions. (Don't bother looking at on an iPad right
now; there's a lot of Flash, and Steve Jobs and Adobe are not getting along
at the moment! ;-)

And if you want to see a certain question in the Photo IQ game, suggest
away!

Sorry to be off-topic, but this is one of my favorite groups so wanted to
share a bit.

P.S. Play one of the 5 original games I created! My favorite is "Face
Match."

Hi Harald:
Nice website; I enjoyed working through a couple of "easy, normal speed"
games. However, I had difficulty quitting out of the games tab and
getting back to the home page. Using Firefox in Win7. Did I miss something?

Hey Bert,

Thanks for the nice comments and for trying it out. What version of Firefox are you using? The tabs have been a bit of a battle for me all along. Am working with the programmer to lock them down some more.

But to your question, here's the answer: The "Games" tab *is* the home page. Maybe that's not clear enough. You can get back to it by clicking the main "Phoozl" logo at top left or by clicking "Home" at the bottom. But you'll end up back on the same "Games" page with the "Ph... What?" box on left side. I designed it like that, but if more people say the same thing, I may have to re-think!
(or if you're on the Temporary Game Page for Photo IQ, just click anywhere at the top and then click on any of the two above)

Thanks again for the feedback!

Harald

P.S. So how did you do on "What's Your Photo IQ?" Did you submit your score? ;-)

Thanks for sharing your Phoozl development. It looks like a huge amount of work to put that all together. I'll poke around over the next few days and see how it works. Putting your "baby" out there for comments is surely difficult and risky. Thanks, too, for trusting members of this forum to be supportive of your very creative efforts. Best of luck in getting this launched.

MICHAEL: Thanks for the support. Appreciate it.

GARY: Understand your opinion about it being OT. No problem taking this
offline, but I feel that it actually does relate (even if mildly) to the topic
of this group. And you don't have to follow the thread. But again, if no one
responds further, I'm happy to end it here.

Harald, Post away! Some time back I did a search for useful post by Gary and
to my surprise most of his post were complaints about off topic post. I
couldn't find one use bit of information he had share. So, In my humble
opinion, take all the band width you need. Especially since you have in fact
given so much to who and what ink jet printing is.

FWIW, I agree with Eric. Harald has done so much that even if it were slightly off-topic, I, for one, would turn the other way. JAS

Good manners are required at all time. No personal attacks or flames. Hostile, aggressive or argumentative users may be removed from the membership without notice.
- Keep your posts and threads related to the group topic of digital B&W printing. Users who persistently make off-topic posts may be removed from the membership.
- By posting on this forum you agree to abide by the group rules and guidelines.

Harald:

Personally I have nothing against you (I don't even know you). I actually admire your Phoozl project. I just don't believe that this is the place to discuss it. There are almost 10,000 members in this group, the vast majority abide by the rules, some of which are listed above. There are a very very small number of members that sometimes believe it is Ok to talk about anything as long as it happens to have "OT" in the subject line. Frankly its irrelevant what I have posted in the past, rules are rules. I just have a lower tolerance for BS than most.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for the kind words!

I'll close this with an on-topic request: If anyone has a suggestion for improving Phoozl with digital B&W printing content, let me know (see email address). Maybe a question about it in the "Photo IQ" game? Jon C: how about a history question?

Keep Phoozling...

P.S. I'm involved with an improved workflow for making platinum/palladium prints from large-format digital negatives. Does that qualify for "on topic"? ;-)
