QTR with Epson R2400 (FAQ?)

QTR with Epson R2400 (FAQ?)

2010-06-03 by Dana Myers

I decided to give QTR a try on my R2400. I downloaded/installed QTR 2.7.0,
and attempted to print a calibration-mode print. The resulting print is
entirely
monotone, as if it was printed in ABW mode.

Is there some trick to configuring QTR for the R2400?

Dana,

Some questions:
- is it correct to assume you have an R2400 with OEM colour inks/
- are you on windows or mac? (I'm only familiar with the windows procedure)
- have you read Tom Moores user manual? I remember that takes a 2100/2200 as example but should apply to a 2400 fairly straightforward
- What exactly did you do to make the calibration mode print?

Yes. R2400 + OEM K3 inkset.

Windows Vista.

Yes, I'm using Tom Moore's User Guide.

I launched QTR 2.7.0, selected Tools>Options>Calibration Mode, verified
the printer/inkset settings (defaults are correct), and clicked on 'print'.

Thanks -
Dana

So I tried uninstalling 2.7.0 and installed 2.6.2 and now I can make a
calibration print like I expect. Apparently some issue with 2.7.0.

Dana,

I had the same problem with 2.7.0 with Windows7.

From Roy Harrington:

I've got fixes for both the Calibration Mode and the Color JPG issues.

Before issuing a new release I have these fixes as a patch:

http://www.quadtonerip.com/QTR2.7.0patch.zip

Download this zip file, extract both imagetoraster.exe and quadtoprinter.exe
Put both these files into:
\\Program Files\QuadToneRIP\bin
replacing the existing ones

Worked great for me.

Dana,

One correction to Mr. Harrington's instructions: If you're using Windows 64 bit, the files he mentions should be placed in c:\Program Files (x86).
