Has anyone here actually managed to print an image?

Has anyone here actually managed to print an image?

2010-06-25 by hp9180profile

For about 2 years I have been trying to get BW prints out of an R1800 using MIS inks and various versions of dilute MK, 3MK and colour MIS inks.

I have tried Inkjetcarts refillable carts which worked for a while and then refused to flow ink.

I tried MIS carts which are the same as the really cheap ones I can get from Hong Kong and just seem to dump all their ink straight through the print heads.

I have been through a set of 4oz MIS ink bottles, a 500 ml bottle of eboni and a set of 8 oz Inkjetcart inks (which seem to be the same as MIS but quite a bit cheaper) and am yet to get ONE print out of it all. I am about to ceremonially tip the lot in a dumpster but thought it worth one more question to this board:

Does anyone use refillable carts for more than 2 years and if so which ones and how do you get them to work?

Failing that if anyone in the UK wants to make me a modest offer for the whole lot and live within the home counties or London then you can take the lot and I will go back to OEM HP stuff that is a lot cheaper and better quality in the long run.

Well, no encouragement here....I'm in the process of converting my Epson 2000P to B&W using the MIS Eboni Black cart and the MIS 2000P UTFSN multi-shade cart. So far, I cannot get a real black, black. The shades of black look ok, but the solid black comes out a shade or two toward grey. Ideas??

What papers work well with this combo??

I have an r1800 and I use Paul Roark's 3mk process. I along with many others on this forum have had no issues.

I use the sponge less refillable carts from MIS with ebony.

I have tried other 3rd party cartridges, non MIS, in the color slots and i had problems resetting the chips.

I use these carts from http://stores.ebay.com/Lin-Exports in the R1900 with
Eboni and Cone inks
I have 30 or so carts in use and have never had any significant issues.
You need to follow the correct filling procedure - I create a vacuum.
Very occasionally I've had to also suck some ink with the syringe (no
needle) from the ink nozzle in the cartridge to get the ink flowing through.

I have been using 2 Epson 1400's for the last couple of years with no
issues..I'm using MIS UT-14 inks in their refillable carts, and Lyson XG
color dyes in my other 1400 with Lyson "trio" carts with no known
issues..NOTE: I am NOT using any CIS, as I am individually refilling these
carts....Both cart types are VERY easy to re-fill, and have proven
reliable..

Yes, I can assure you that there are quite a few of us.

I've been using MIS ink and carts in CIS systems for about 10 years on
various Epson models, currently a 2200 and have had no such problems.
MIS has always been quick to reply to questions and solve problems.

I have a R2400 and C88 using Superjet CIS with MIS Eboni ink, no problems. If they sit for a few months you will need to clean heads and pads, so it is best to print often. I have a R1800 with Epson ink, if I don't print often it will plug also.

Thanks for the Encouraging replies

But how does one properly fill the MIS R1800 carts so that they hold the ink and do not let it leak out through the head? Someone in this thread mentioned creating a vacuum. DO other folk do this and if so how?

Thanks again.

Apologies, it wasn't 'someone', it was Michael. I just reread the thread.
I note that the folk in your link Micheal do not supply cartridges for the 1800. No mind it seems that others on this board have good success with the MIS ones. My procedure for filling is per the instructions which say to fill them and if doing so for the first time suck a little ink out from the bottom nozzle. That is pretty well what I do.

Any better methods out there folks?

Alistair,

They have R1800 carts on their website
http://www.linexports.com/en/product/item/796/product_detail.html
I've bought direct (ie.not through ebay) most recently without any problems.

Good luck,

Mike
