epson 7600 not drawing ink into dampers.

epson 7600 not drawing ink into dampers.

2010-07-06 by atlanta1426

I recently bought a used Epson 7600 printer to dedicate to B/W.

When I got the printer to my studio and did a nozzle check the pattern was all broken up.

Tried Windex on the pads, tried flush fluid. It helped but the yellow totally quit working. Thinking that there might be some clotted ink in the lines - I used a syringe to suck all the old ink out of the lines. Then I replaced the yellow damper.

Now the machine has quit drawing ink into the dampers. On an initial fill the printer goes through all the motions but does not draw ink from any of the lines.

I have re-set the dampers a couple of times and am pretty sure they are in there nice and tight.

I'm fresh out of ideas.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Yes, I've seriously thought about the dumpster.

Thanks,
Michael Turner

sounds like there is insufficient suction during cleaning or charging cycles. That would mean the capping station is not seating well underneath the head, either it has something on it, or it has been knocked out of position, or it is very gunked up and needs cleaning.

THose would be the easiest things to rectify before looking into pump replacement or something more drastic. Doesn't hurt to replace the capping station itself eother.
Hope that helps.

Is the left end higher then the right end? Ink works via gravity.
