C88+ & Eboni-6

C88+ & Eboni-6

2010-09-19 by Paul

I sent daughter #2 off to college with her C88+ and thought I'd report the condition of the printer.

The printer is a C88+ that I set up 2 years ago with a CIS from SuperjetUSA ($50) and Eboni diluted to 13.5%. I used the C6 generic base, but the mix and profiles are also for Eboni-6, where the LC and M densities are mixed 1:1 (just pour the bottles together into a beaker and pour the blend into the CIS with a small funnel).

See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/C88-C13-5.pdf

This is like the MIS C88 "EZ" setup where the same density of inks is in all 3 of the color positions.

The C88+ with what I call "C13-5" in the 3 color spots has sat in its box all summer after 2 years of use at college. So, this will be its third year.

When I fired it up to test it and did a nozzle check, the dilute Eboni was perfect. The Eboni MK was "clogged" or other wise gave a bad nozzle check. Sitting in Windex for a day cleared that.

I topped off the K and C13.5% positions and we'll see if the setup can do a third year with no maintenance. This has been a cheap and easy setup that performs very well.

Paul,

I have had my C88+ the same setup for 2 years. Same results, long period of sitting, MK will be plugged but windex clears it and back to printing.
