B&W on R1900

B&W on R1900

2010-09-23 by Tom

I print B&W on my 1400 with Eboni6 inks on matte paper.
I wonder if there is any way to print a B&W on my R1900 using something
like Galerie Gold Fibre Silk, Harman Gloss FB or RR Ultra Pro Satin
and not get noticable color cast? R1900 loaded with Inkjetfly pigment
ink. Anyone use a similar set-up??

I'd probably try an analogy to the 1800 3-MK --

but use HP Z3100/3200 PK.

Thanks but I have my 1400 set up for that. I was just wondering if the 1900 would print a respectable B&W.

Have you checked to see whether there are any QTR curves for that printer
with the papers you are interested in (or similar ones)? If there are then
that is probably your best route if you don't want to change the inkset.

Thanks Paul. I hoped there was a simple way to get a decent, not
great, B&W glossy/satin print out of the R1900 without changing anything. I thought perhaps a custom profile or such.

You could try a black only print using QTR - it will be very warm and may exhibit banding. You could counter both by firing a little cyan in there - print longevity will not compare with your eboni six however
