HP PK is never going to give a good d-max on a matte paper. It is a gloss
paper ink. MK is the proper fit for matte papers and as John pointed out,
you can't beat the HP MK on matte paper for DMax.

Just curious. . . . HP have taken steps to make their PK relatively
neutral. Have they done the same with their MK, or is it on the warm side?

Terry.

Neutral.

So. . . . would I have any issues loading HP MK into a refillable cartridge
and running it through an Epson 3800 head?

Terry.

I would be surprised if you encounter any problem. It is of course
possible that clogs are a thing of the past then :-) What I write is not
a warranty though.

It might be a good idea to contact Joe Costello at Image Specialists first.
My recollection is that they did not supply the monochrome inksets for
MIS, only the PK-MK-C-M-lc-lm-Y-LK-LLK inks. I do not know who supplied the
Eboni...UT7 etc. inks.... check with Paul Rouark, who is not an agent for MIS.
MediaStreet also had a set for monochrome prints, designed by the late
Richard Wolfe, that offered exceptional results. Jon Cone at InkjetMall should
also be contacted to arrange for European deliveries.

I've been out of town and have not followed this thread, but to respond to the specific question here, IS supplies the basic inks and MIS mixes them according to formulas I gave them. The various inksets are listed at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Inkset-list.html Currently I'm most interested in the inksets and approaches on my main B&W page at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/.

By the way, this is all visible at the website of IS. Both MIS and Gemini are listed as distributors.

In the past I talked to Robert Grafton about distributing MIS blended inks in Europe. He was interested, MIS apparently not. I can imagine that if there would be sufficient demand in Europe, Robert could have a chat with Paul......
