Re: Banding Issues Continue

In an answer to my request for help, John Dean sent me the following: "Finally there is a way to go into the 10K printer menu and slow your printer down to what I believe is called 8 pass printing that improves quality (4 pass is the standard but not as precise). I do this on mine as a standard procedure. I had some banding initially on the slower print setting. But I'm using SP with Smooth Diffusion dither. That setting did it for me." I am using StudioPrint as he is and, following his suggestion, I looked for the commands that would allow me to change the speed of the head. I found it in the "Device Controls" tab where there are choices concerned with the pass and dot size. Unbeknownst to me, I was using "standard 1 [4 pass| Variable small]". There were other choices, one of which was 4 Pass Normal. I changed to that one and my banding disappeared! The print, however, darkened about 20% so I will have to re-linearize to get more correct ink lay down. There was no setting choices that would allow an 8 pass mode. I am using smooth diffusion as a dither pattern. Thank you very much, John! I don't know if the choice that I made is the best one but it did instantly eliminate my banding problems. I will look at the other choices and see what they might deliver.
